Standard Plate Heat Exchangers
Sondex delivers standard plate heat exchangers as well as customized heat transfer solutions for any task. The Sondex plate pattern is designed to solve a variety of different heat exchanger applications.
Advantages
- The plates and plate patterns are constructed to obtain a high thermal effieciency with a low pressure drop
- There are two patern designs available with different pressing angles respectively high/low turbulence flow, dependent on the given selection
- The inlet chanels allow for maximum strength in the inlet area, while maintaining minimum of contact points, reducing blockage at the flow distribution zone.
- The inlet design ensures even distribution of the liquids across the heating surface
- The gasket is placed in a dedicated retaining gasket groove. This secures the elasticity of the gasket even after a long time of compression.
Semi-Welded Plates
Semi-Welded exchangers are two plates laser welded together to form a cassette. The
advantage of this construction is that, one side of the cassette is a sealed welded channel, while the other is a traditional gasketed plate channel making assembly and cleaning of this site
easier.
Advantages
- Laser welded plates
- Safe operation without leaking
- High working pressure
- Can be used for evaporators and condensers
- Suitable for NH3
- Minor gasket area
- Small liquid volume
Sonder Safe Plates
The Sondex Sonder Safe system consists of two thin flow plates pressed together. The
unique Sonder Safe plates mean that should there be a leak in one of the plates; the media will run out between the plates, allowing the leak to be seen from the outside.
The "Sonder Safe Plates" are available in two versions - an industrial and a sanitary design
Advantages
- Allows leaks to be seen from outside between the two plates
- Prevent co-mixing of products whilst providing a warning system
Free Flow Plates
Sondex "Free Flow" plates are used for liquids containing solids, particles, fibers or
high viscous products. The plates are commonly used in the pulp & paper industry, in waste water treatment plants, the sugar industry, juice production, grain based ethanol production, heat
recovery systems and for special tasks where standard plate heat exchangers usually will block.
Advantages
- Suitable for products with solid particles
- No metal/metal contact in corner holes/inlets
- Inlet area designed for optimal turbulent flow
- Up to 20 mm constant plate gap
- No dead spots on the plate
- Suitable for Cleaning In Place
- High thermal transmission
- Even distribution
- Low pressure drop
Brazed Heat Exchangers
Sondex brazed plate heat exchanger consists of a number of thin acid-resistant precision stamped stainless steel plates with copper brazed gaskets.
The plate packs are braazed with two end plates and connections. Vacuum brazing at extreme high temperatures provides a permanently sealed heat exchanger. The final result is a strong and compact plate heat exchanger with extremely high heat transfer capability.
Applications
- Heating and cooling of clean liquids
- Evaporators and condenser units
- District heating and ventilation
- Solar heating and air conditioning units
- Heating pumps and heat recovering units
- Temperatures from minus 180°C. up to 200°C
- Operating pressure can be as high as 35 bar.
Plate & Shell Heat Exchangers
The plate and shell heat exchangers from Sondex utilize a fully welded plate pack,
laser/TIG welded together and mounted inside a traditional cylindrical shell. With a high thermal efficiency and lower purchase cost, the Sondex plate and shell heat exchanger combines the benefits
of a traditional shell & tube type heat exchanger but with the high efficiency provided for in a plate type exchanger.
Applications
- Suitable for NH3
- Evaporators and Condensers
- Fuel oil heaters
- Pressure rating: PN16/PN25/PN40
- From min. temp. -100°C to max temp.: Up to 400°C
Advantages
- Small space requirement (only 30% of a traditional tubular heat exchanger)
- No gaskets
- Safe operation without leaking
- High working pressure
- Small liquid volume
- Laser welded plates
Spiral Heat Exchangers
Sondex Spiral Heat Exchangers are circular heat exchangers with two spiral channels, each in one closed chamber. The flow of the two products are countercurrent which makes it possible to have a close temperature approach between the two medias being treated in the heat exchanger.
Advantages
- Designed for demanding fluids of very high viscosity
- Possible to run Free Flow on one or both sides
- Designed with welded spacer studs to increase the turbulence and heat transmission
- Easy access to the heat transmission area
- Easy maintenance and cleaning without any use of special tools
- Very compact heat exchanger - saving valuable production area
